The Main Library of Kumasi Technical University serves as the central hub for all library services and operations across the university. It is responsible for providing the necessary personnel, resources, and technical support required to ensure effective library services. In addition to directly offering services to the university community, it also coordinates and supervises the activities of the university’s two branch libraries.
The University Librarian serves as both the administrative and technical head of the entire University Library System, which comprises the Main Library and its branch libraries.
Strategically located on the first two floors of the university’s main administration block, the Main Library is organized into eight functional departments:

2. Lending & User Deparment
3. Academic & Research Support Department
4. Acquisition Department
5. Cataloguing Department
6. Reprographic Department
7. Bindery Department
8. Archives Department
The first floor of the library houses the Lending Library, which includes the Issue Desk, a spacious Reading Area, the Research Support Unit, and the Archives Unit.
The second floor is home to the Reference Library, which features the Reference Desk, another well-equipped Reading Area, the E-Resources Centre, and the Reprographic Unit. This floor also accommodates the Acquisitions and Cataloguing Sections, which handle the selection and organization of library materials.
